Compared to last week alfalfa sold steady, grass hay sold steady to weak. Ground and delivered products and dehy pellets sold steady. Demand was light to moderate in most areas with good demand in the Western side of the state. Many contacts are on their 3rd or 4th cutting of alfalfa with some thinking of cutting a 5th in some areas of the state. Several grass hay producers still have not been able to get into their lush native meadows due to high water tables and very soft soil conditions. There appears to be a limited supply of top quality grass hay in the Sandhill’s but there should be enough good grass hay for cattlemen to procure. All sales are dollars per ton FOB the field or hay barn, unless otherwise noted.
